The NiQuitin patch and Nicorette microtab and lozenge are licensed for use with pregnant smokers who are unable to stop without NRT.

As with all medication, risks to the baby must be considered before starting NRT. You must discuss the risks and benefits of starting NRT with your doctor. Usually the risks associated with NRT are much less than the risks to the baby of your continuing to smoke.

If your doctor thinks that it is OK for you to use NRT then you might want to consider the microtab or lozenge. These products are better than the patch which, once it is on, may not release nicotine for absorption in such an exactly measured way.
